New York, New York

IMG_1894

A couple of weeks ago, we went to one of the New York-iest weddings we’ve ever attended: The ceremony was at St. Ignatius Loyola, an absolutely stunning church located on Park Avenue in the Upper East Side, and the reception was at the Boathouse in Central Park, an NYC icon if there ever was one (and one of the best places in the city to grab a sunny drink on the water, FYI). The funny part about this quintessentially New York wedding? The groom–along with a solid fifty percent of the guest list–is actually Australian. As in, just-moved-here and/ or flew-in-for-the-occasion-from-Down-Under Australian.

And so, we can only imagine the extent to which the lovely festivities must’ve charmed the Aussies on behalf of good ol’ NYC, since even we New Yorkers found ourselves particularly smitten with our beloved city all over again. New York, New York, indeed.

Congratulations, Colleen & Chris!

(Side note: This wedding was also the official Real Wedding debut of the Aubrey dress from our [aptly named] City Collection! If we are going to be honest here, we [unsurprisingly] are quite proud of the results.)

Wow.

Picture 6Picture 5

Whilst surfing the web the other day (in the name of work, of course), we happened to stumble upon photographer Clayton Austin’s site. And so, as is the norm when we find anything even remotely interesting online, we spent the better part of an hour poring over the photographs on the site, and then googling the photographer’s name so we could find even more photos, all the while positively dying over the sheer, aching romanticism that oozes from each and every shot. After all, who doesn’t want to be portrayed with their significant other bathed in the bittersweet soft light of true love?

Taste the Rainbow*

Picture 9

‘Twas an early start for us this past Monday, what with our bridesmaid press preview starting at 9am. (Did we mention it was a Monday?) A 9am start time, you see, means a 7am call time for models, hair and makeup, which means an even earlier arrival time for us Thread gals (who usually start the work day at 10am. Yes, really.). Not that we mind, of course; we love nothing more than flaunting just how freakin’ cute our dresses are. (We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Modesty–not our strong suit.)

And, just as we thought (ok, hoped and prayed), everything turned out wonderfully, especially our little Starburst of color and grass and prettiness and relaxation and love and happiness.

(Er, yes, we mean the dresses and models in the above pic. The dresses, by the way? From our Layered Chiffon collection, the ‘Whitney‘.)

(*Ed. note: Is this a creepy title?)

How Sweet…

Picture 3

… is this “Love Knot” ring by Finn Jewelry? Just perfect for a wedding day gift from groom to bride (ahem), or, perhaps, for a lil’ maid of honor present (double ahem). We love how delicate it is, and the rose gold just feels so special.

Just sayin’, boyfriends and husbands-to-be out there, just sayin’.

Exactly What We Want.

25283_1368444006814_1103103508_31084102_8211157_n

When our friend Jenny from Glamour approached us about doing her sister’s bridesmaid dresses, we cheerfully complied, because we at Thread love nothing more than helping a friend out with their wedding. We just love being a part, however small, of the bigger planning process, and, even more, we just love to see how it all comes together in the end.

With this wedding, we figured right off the bat it would be a fun one, as the event itself would be in the Bahamas, and the bride chose a Caribbean-y rainbow of dresses for her bridesmaids. And we of course counted on it being cute, since the bride herself was cute, and her (also cute) bridesmaids would be wearing Thread. But even we weren’t prepared for just how fun and how cute the wedding would turn out in the end. The festive dresses? The matching groomsmen ties? The coordinating flowergirl sashes?

Well, consider us impressed. And inspired. And envious we weren’t there.

Congratulations, Dana & Luke!

(Above: The happy bridal party on the Big Day. Oh, and by the way, brides-to-be: The flowergirl dress sashes and the groomsmen ties? Both Thread. Yep. We do that. )
