Perfect Shoes.

By Thread Said

Just thought we would share this beautiful pair of Jimmy Choos we found whilst pursuing Net A Porter’s latest shoe offerings. At $785, these puppies are a bit (okay, a lot) pricey, but we promise that you will never, ever have to worry about what shoes to wear to a wedding (or any formal event) again. The style and color are classic (read: will never go out of style) and neutral (read: go with everything).

Bridesmaids out there, take note!

It’s a Wrap. (And a Scarf. And a Blanket. And a…)

By Thread Said

Listen up, brides-to-be (or any ol’ person taking a trip in the near future): After extensive research and fieldwork, we at Thread have discovered the one item that you absolutely must bring with you on your honeymoon. Drumroll, please…

A scarf. Yep. Not a super expensive Italian silk scarf, and definitely not your usual wooly winter scarf, but a relatively inexpensive, lightweight, crumple-y one.

You see, nothing is more versatile than a scarf. A scarf instantly chic-ifies your plane outfit, your going-to-the-local-market outfit, your drinks-before-dinner outfit. It can act as a mini-pillow or a blanket of sorts on the airplane. You can wear it as a sarong on the beach, or use it in lieu of a towel on the sand. And let’s not forget using the scarf for its intended purpose: to keep you warm when it gets a bit chilly. Best of all, though, is that a scarf, when folded and bunched up, is tiny, and can be squeezed into the most overpacked of suitcases.

Happy trails (and you’re welcome)!

Some scarves we love (and are seriously considering buying), from left: Gap Lightweight Plaid scarf, $24.50, at gap.com; Topshop Woven Ladderweave scarf, $32, at topshop.com; Tolani Zig Zag scarf, $85, at chickdowntown.com.

Eazy, Breezy Days of Summer

By Thread Said

Pop quiz: It is late July and you are at a wedding on the Cape. Are the gals above A.) perfectly preppy guests of the bride, in from Boston for the occasion, or B.) cool and collected bridesmaids, with a bride-to-be to thank for her impeccable taste? If you chose “A”…

Oh, heck–does it even matter? We just wanted an excuse to do a post on seersucker. For us, good ol’ seersucker is right up there with everything that is good about New England in the summer (and who doesn’t love New England in the summer?): lobsters, cobblestones, white wine spritzers, the Red Sox, sailboats, clambakes, pine trees, boat shoes, Sam Adams, rocky coasts…

We are clearly getting off point here. Bottom line: Brides, if you are looking for a perfect, crisp look for your summer wedding, look no further than our darling seersucker collection. (This isn’t blatant self-promotion, we promise. Just stating the facts.) Bridesmaids, as you are IN your best gal’s summer wedding, please pass the previously stated information along to the bride. And, finally, guests, here it is: your summer wedding uniform. We promise you will get a million compliments every time you wear it.

Now, back to daydreaming about those lobsters…

How to Make a Wedding Dress YOUR Wedding Dress

By Thread Said

While flipping through this month’s Martha Stewart Weddings, we came across a gorgeous photo of our ivory Shiloh gown, and were immediately inspired. The lovely editors over there accented the shoulder of the dress with a beautiful white dahlia made of (what appears to be) chiffon. (Brides-to-be out there who, let’s face it, have every current issue of every bridal mag, flip to page 161. Pretty, right?) The magazine then goes on to brilliantly explain how to make one of these flowers for yourself.

Just thought we’d share this easy way to customize your wedding gown… or hairdo… or overall look. And also offer a few options available ready-made for purchase, for all of those girls out there who (ahem, like us) aren’t so savvy on the DIY front. (Although consider yourself warned: Pre-made floral accessories can be surprisingly pricey.)

Help for your Heels. Favor for your Feet. (You get the picture.)

By Thread Said

Perhaps you’ve heard about this absolutely genius idea (why didn’t WE think of this!), but if not, listen up: Some guy over in the UK (yes, a GUY!) invented a vending machine that dispenses rolled-up “emergency” ballet flats at various nightclubs and bars throughout London. You know that point during the night when you simply cannot stand on those tiny five-inch heels one second longer and you contemplate choosing the horror of bare feet on the sticky floor over the pain inflicted by those Louboutins? Well, no more. Well, actually, that’s not entirely true. Us American gals have to wait a bit longer, as the vending machines have yet to actually make it across the pond. But, we have been assured, plans are in the works–and you can always order a pair online and have ‘em shipped internationally.

(Above, proof that cute things do come in small packages: a pair of Rollasoles in Hi Ho Silver. For more information, visit rollasole.com.)
